Chidam SPEAKS!

Have you ever heard a politician who has lost the election say "People have made the biggest mistake of their life. They are going to suffer a lot during this period"? Well, there are as many chances as sun to rise at 12AM, for you to have heard that. Instead they might say "Next time we will earn people's confidence and win the election" The politicians are well aware of the fact that criticising or condemning people for the failure in the elections, would make matter only more worser.                            Criticisms are very futile. They don't change the situation but contribute towards adding more fuel to fire. B.F.Skinner, the world-famous renowned psychologist from America, conducted a series of experiments on animals. The research concluded that an animal  rewarded for ...

Recently, I found a lot of photos and messages regarding the threat to our eyes while we use the mobile phones at night in the dark. To find the truthiness behind these posts, I surfed the internet regarding this and found that it was true.                      A Chinese man was texting his girlfriend constantly for about six hours in the dark. The next morning what he experienced was strange. He nearly went blind. But with the recent advancement in the Ophthalmology, his eye sight was saved from blindness. Doctors say that what he experienced was retinal detachment, a condition which is mostly experience by the age of 50 to 75. It is a state where the retina (a sensitive layer behind the eye that reads light) detaches itself from the blood vessel that supplies it with oxygen and nutrients. Retinal detachment can also be caused by direct injury to the eyes. The ret...

For those of you who missed yesterday's match between India and Bangladesh, I would say that you certainly missed a terrific horror movie, that would have let goosebumps occur all over your body. Yes! It was India who emerged victorious after a nail biting last over from Hardik Pandya. People with weak heart would have even succumbed while seeing the final over of the match. Well done Bangladesh         Bangladesh has emerged into a world class cricket team with most of its players, all rounders. Remember the 2007 world cup when India lost to Bangladesh in the group stage creating a wide outspread of violence all over India? During that time, Bangladesh was not a well rated team as it is now. Only a few good players were available in their side. But now, starting from the opener Tamim Iqbal to Mushfiqur. all the players are playing world class cricket like their counterparts India, Australia, etc proving that they are also one of the best cricketing teams i...

Recently I had a chance to attend one of meetings addressed by the Correspondent of the Golden Gates Matriculation school and Emerald Valley Public school, Salem, Mrs. Meena Sethu. She was so calm and patient even when the projector was not working properly. Just before she started her speech, I had no idea that I going to listen to one of the best lecture of my life. I was just taken aback by the initiatives that she is indulged in, to restore nature to its original form. Her opinion about worshipping "Maariamman", the god of rains, was mind blowing. This is what she had to say about worshipping "Maariamman"               In tamil, Maari means rain and Maariamman means God of rain. Maariamman is a very famous god in south India, especially Tamil Nadu, where people worship the idol of the rain god with utmost sincerity and respect. They used to do lot of "Nerthikandans" (meaning Ritual duty) to Maariamman and spend a lot for the temple's infrastr...

The most serious issue threatening India, especially Delhi, is Dengue fever. In this year, so far 5,982 cases have been reported in Delhi alone and this is major outbreak in the last six years. Though the government has still not used the word epidemic, doctors have confirmed that it is an epidemic. An epidemic is a rapid spread of a particular infectious disease among a large group of people in a short span of time usually two or three weeks. So far 33 people have died in this year in Delhi due to dengue.            The mosquito that causes dengue is the female Aedes aegypti mosquito. An Aedes mosquito can lay eggs 3 times in its lifetime and each time it lays about 100 eggs. Each egg grows into a larva in less than one day and the larva grows into a pupa in about three to four days. Finally the pupa grows into a mosquito in about two days. After the mosquito has grown, it bites a person and lays the eggs and the cycle will continue. When the mosquit...
